Hi everyone! My name is Joe and as I mention in my bio I’m a 2nd year law student at The University of Law in Manchester. I’m going to use this account to talk about the law try to (badly) explain it and provide tips on studying and what it’s like to be a law student. It’s currently exam season for us so there will also be some hints on that. I hope to be original and not just repeat what others may have covered but we’ll see how it goes! First off I’ll start by explaining the name. The ‘law’ bit is pretty obvious but for those of you who don’t know about the first part, the term ‘Stopfordian’ refers to a person from Stockport, one of the 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester. (I’m technically not from here but have lived here since the age of 2 so consider myself Stopfordian). I guess I should also tell you a little bit about me! I’m 19 and since I started uni I’ve lived at home with my parents and my sister (and with my dog for a year today!). I’m a student ambassador and a NHS Volunteer, and at Uni I’m the VP for the Social Awareness Society and the Competition Officer for the Debating Society. I absolutely LOVE 80s music, and love nothing more than a night in with a G&T, cake and a good TV show (Love Suits obviously) or a comedy. I’ve started this account because I know Uni can be stressful and I’m also one to make the student mistakes of not putting enough effort in, procrastinating, having bad sleep patterns and leaving things til the last minute. I really want to change this so hope something good can come out of my mistakes - you hopefully being able to avoid them! If there’s anything you’d like to see specifically just let me know!
