• Motivation • In this pandemic there seems no break from our current situation. We can’t easily change up our routine, travel or take some time away. This has certainly impacted my motivation. Lacking motivation? My biggest tip (pre, during and post-pandemic) is give yourself regular breaks. When you’re studying or working to deadlines, you can feel if you take your foot off the gas, even for a moment, you’ll lose all motivation and end up miles behind. I’ve definitely been guilty of this mindset. However, breaks are healthy, and allow you to reset, so you’ll have more motivation and be less likely to burnout. To maintain or improve your motivation: • Set clear goals ✅ : Invest time in planning - list what you need and want to get done. Put your tasks in manageable (so not intimidating) chunks, and make a timetable of key milestones. This focus makes me a lot more motivated and productive. Simply sitting down with a blank slate can feel overwhelming! Be aware your priorities will evolve, so review your list regularly. Plus, it feels so good to cross things off your list when they’re done! • Reward yourself 💟 : It's easy to finish one assessment or task and instantly start focusing on the next, however, try and take time off to relax. For me, I try to physically move away from the screen to give my body, particularly my eyes, a change. My diversions include: a cup of tea, reading, taking a walk (🔆), having a dance party (this definitely involves some questionable dance moves!). • Talk 🗣 : If you’re finding your motivation is low, talk to someone. Often the most trivial things can quickly stack up to become pretty daunting. Talking things through can help put things in perspective, and you can also ask a friend to hold you accountable on your tasks too, e.g. with progress updates. With all this in mind, some days you may not get much done, but don’t be too hard on yourself. We're in a global pandemic, so please be nice to yourself. Remember small steps lead to big changes, and above all, you can do this! 👣 #liveprospectus #ulawbristol #success #student #motivation #studygram #studytips #hardwork #lpc #lpcstudent #revision #studyinspiration #exams
