What a lovely sunny start to the bank holiday! ☀️ ⁣ ⁣ Next step in the journey is my third and most favourite seat of my training contract - my employment seat 🪑 ⁣ ⁣ When undertaking my employment seat I got to experience and work on a mixture of contentious and non-contentious matters. I also got to collaborate with other teams such as corporate, commercial, tax, pensions and regulatory as employment links with many aspects of law! 🔗⁣ ⁣ On the contentious side, typical trainee tasks include preparing bundles of documents, drafting responses to claims, preparing witness statements and correspondence to the tribunal. Since qualifying, I have also had the opportunity to conduct my own advocacy at preliminary hearing at an employment tribunal. 👩🏼 ⚖️ ⁣ ⁣ On the non-contentious side, I reviewed and marked-up policies and staff contracts to keep them in line with best practice and relevant legislation. I also regularly work on corporate transactions which involve due diligence reviews of employment documents and service agreements. There is also a number of opportunities to support with writing articles and carrying out research.
