Good afternoon everyone! I hope you’re all well. What delightful weather we are having this week. I wanted to say that everyone is doing an amazing job following government guidelines. It makes a significant impact on reducing the spread of Covid-19 and ensures we are doing as much as we can to aid the NHS in their battle to help and protect those suffering. I took this picture whilst doing work experience last year. I’ve had two vacation schemes with firms outside London, and in the process it has given me a better idea of what area of law I would like to pursue. As a law student and aspiring solicitor, it can be quite difficult obtaining work experience, and with many of us only getting to choose our own modules in the final years of our degrees, often people leave university not completely sure of the route they want to go down. This is very common and I wanted to tell you guys that if you can relate to this, you have nothing to worry about. Throughout my final year, I have developed a passion for family law, and as a result I am seeking further work experience within this field to broaden my knowledge and understand what its truly like to work in that environment. I am also interested in commercial law. I have applied for vac schemes with several city firms and before I apply for a training contract, I want to be sure that this is the area I am most passionate about. I have worked in property for two years and developed an interest in real estate. This is something I hope to pursue further, whilst continuing to expand my knowledge as much as I can in the meantime. It is important to stay true to yourself and follow your heart. Stay open minded and never pass down any opportunities - There are many types of work experience and it is great to develop wider knowledge in several areas before deciding what to specialise in. After obtaining work experience, I recommend following firms that interest you closely and work on developing your individual application that will make you stand out. What area of law interests you?
