Today was my first day back at work following some annual leave and as I expected it was a very busy and intense day so I’m taking some time out tonight to dive back into my current book. I’m only 150 pages into ‘Court No.1: The Old Bailey’ but I’m loving it already and I can tell it won’t be long until I’ve finished it. In this book Thomas Grant takes you through some of the most significant cases to be heard in the famous court room over the last century (and a bit) starting all the way back in 1907 with R v Wood. The thing that really appeals to me about this book is how Grant manages to combine the legal narratives of each case with the wider social attitudes that surround each crime. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves true crime or even modern British history. If you have any other books you would recommend I read please let me know on the comments as I’m always keen to find a new book! 📚 #law #lawstudent #lpc #lpcstudent #ulaw #lawgraduate #parttimesrudent #postgraduate #postgrad #postgradlife #masters #mastersdegree #onlinelearning #distancelearning #studygram #student #studying #bookstagram #books #truecrime #court #nonfiction #nonfictionbooks #history #britishhistory #london #readingtime #readingisfun thelegallifeofjess (@thelegallifeofjess) posted on Instagram December 09, 2020 19:33
