The day before my Birthday I’m taking a moment to reflect on a major goal I set myself and managed to complete amongst the most challenging circumstances, thanks to my support system of unwavering love and encouragement - graduating with a Master of Arts in Law with Distinction from u_law. A milestone that I was able to mark by attending a wonderful graduation ceremony barbicancentre, on a stage that I had performed on many times as a teenager in the London Schools Symphony Orchestra lsso_london and a venue that is so special to my family, as it is where my sister had her unforgettable wedding reception. Amidst a beautiful blue sky the sun was shining down on us - surrounded by family, amberhernaman, norachouit, james._armitage and I graduated together, it was very special indeed. There is so much I can say about the journey I have been on that has led to this moment, but for now I shall convey it through the poignant words of Professor Peter Crisp, Deputy Vice Chancellor that day: “Reflect on the fact that you set out to do something that not many get to achieve, and you did it…whilst we celebrate success today it is important to acknowledge that many of life’s lessons are learned in failure and as a result you must not be scared or thrown by it. In fact failure is just part of the path to great success, in the form of understanding yourselves and others, in learning new things and finding your true value to this world…there is no limit to what you can achieve. An achievement does not have to be marked by grabbing headlines. On the contrary, true achievement is to pursue your lives and careers with the same gusto and integrity with which you have pursued your studies. You have chosen the path that has allowed you to be transformative.
