Now that the LPC is over I plan to spend time going over some practical skills based materials from my course and even some LLB concepts that I will need to be familiar with before September rolls around! πŸ’ΌπŸ“– Examples of preparation steps for a training contract: 1. Practise using legal search engines. I plan to cover basic searches to the more advanced searches that can be done on platforms, such as: WestLaw, LexisNexis and PLC (to name a few) πŸ’» 2. Legal writing. I will also be going over general formating rules and will be gathering all of my templates/notes on this and filing it somewhere easily accessible. 3. Interviewing. The LPC interviewing assessment feels like a lifetime ago now, but it was one of the most useful practical skills I have learnt during the course, so I will be revising my notes and ensuring I can remember key points about formalities for when I have my first real client interview! 🀝 4. Core legal concepts - the basics. I will also be going over some key legal concepts and principles for each of the seats I will be completing work in! 5. Resting! Although this isn't a 'revision' point, it is just as important as the others. It is important to be able to 'switch off' to avoid feeling exhausted before I have even stepped foot in the firm! 😴 #TLPTakeover by Alexandra Lima (missalexandralouise_), LPC Student and future Darlingtons trainee solicitor #lawyer #lawlife #TLPlawyerlife #solicitor #trainee #trainingcontract #lpc #lawfirm #universityoflaw #lawstudy
