๐€๐ƒ๐•๐€๐๐‚๐„๐ƒ ๐‘๐„๐€๐‹ ๐„๐’๐“๐€๐“๐„ ๐„๐—๐€๐Œโฃ โœ… โฃ As many of my OG followers are aware, I deferred two of my exams due to some technical issues I had last year with the online proctored assessments which means I sat my advanced real estate exam today. โฃ โฃ Some pieces of advise:โฃ โฃ ๐€๐๐ฏ๐š๐ง๐œ๐ž๐ ๐ซ๐ž๐š๐๐ข๐ง๐  ๐๐จ๐œ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง - do not rely on this! In all of my assessments where advance documentation was released 24 hours prior to the exam, a fair proportion of the exam was based on it which allowed me to focus my revision on certain topics the night before. In this exam, a two marker was allocated to the advanced reading so donโ€™t always assume that this is your golden ticket.โฃ โฃ ๐‘๐ž๐š๐ฅ ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ž - as youโ€™ll know, I specialise in Real Estate and this is ultimately the area I want to qualify into which is why I joined AG. I wouldnโ€™t say my existing knowledge of real estate helped in answering the questions as they are very technical but it did help when it came to adopting a general understanding of the different case studies and commercial needs of the parties throughout the course. โฃ โฃ ๐„๐ฅ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ฌ - I personally think choosing your electives are important based on the areas you want to qualify into. Whilst the topics didnโ€™t cover what I do on a day to day basis, I do think that I will be able to use this sort of information when advising my client as to the overall picture which is what creates a well rounded Real Estate lawyer! โฃ โฃ For example, I do not specialise in construction law but learning about the different methods of procurement and set ups as well as the protection afforded from collateral warranties and deed of appointments will help me gain an overall picture in the future if I am ever to advise a developer on the acquisition of land.โฃ โฃ All in all, Iโ€™d give the exam an 8/10.
