Live Prospectus - by the people who know us best, our students

This time last year, I faced the computer screen, carrying exhaustion of being a new mum who couldn’t wait to go hug her little one, ready to submit my final assessment, emotions swirling as the past two years flashed before my eyes. Reciting Bismillah, I prayed for success and hit submit. Oh the relief! I put my head down on the desk and told myself weakly: “Congratulations girl, you did it.” Every immigrant graduand harbors profound struggle coupled with majorly fluctuating resilience, battles with self-esteem, tears, countless all-nighters, part-time jobs at times with horrible managers, strained relationships, financial constraints, embarrassing levels of reliance on ramen, bouts of loneliness, reminiscent thoughts and a constant feeling that they ‘need to study!’ All this, but with an earnest yearning for a brighter future. All while this struggle is real I can’t help but think what a privilege it is to be able to have any hope to pursue a better tomorrow. To be able to live with dignity and the ability to be secure enough to focus on “life goals”. My heart goes out to those who have been stripped of this opportunity today. I commit to leveraging my privilege to assist those facing adversity and using my position to advocate for justice in all facets of life. A big shout out to my husband, my best friend, my biggest support z1ariq without whom none of my success would be possible. I wholeheartedly aspire to assist you in frying the big fish you so often mention 😌. Last but not the least, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to u_law for embracing new mothers and instilling in me the confidence that when I’m determined, you will go the extra mile to make things achievable for me. #graduation #ulaw #lawyersoflinkedin #abettertomorrow
